New Pre-Conference Workshops Offered
space is limited – reserve your spot today!
Ever wanted to see what a Master Black Belt Elective Week was really
like? Now’s your chance! This year, in conjunction with the
Fifth Annual Client Appreciation Conference, SBTI will be offering
a two-hour overview on two of our most popular Master Black Belt
Elective Weeks. The price for the Workshops is only $250.00, which
may be applied to future enrollment fees in Master Black Belt elective
courses.
You may choose between attending Forecasting and Time Series or
Six Sigma Process Design. If you are interested in attending a workshop,
please contact clientconference@sbtimail.com.
Forecasting and Time Series
Facilitated by David Bacon and Dick Scott
This elective will introduce and review time series
analysis methods, and apply those methods to the problem of forecasting.
ARIMA, seasonal and using leading indicators will all be explored.
Who Should Attend:
- Individuals designing or interpreting control charts
- Demand Planners and others with forecasting responsibilities
- Mentors of Black Belts and Green Belts
Key Topics:
- Review of advanced regression analysis
- Basic time series concepts
- Smoothing methods
- Decomposition methods (level, trend, seasonal components)
- Autocorrelation and cross correlation
- ARIMA (Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average) models
- Seasonal forecasting
- Forecasting with leading indicators
- Intervention analysis
- Evaluating forecast performance
Benefits:
- Understanding influence of autocorrelation on interpretation
of control charts
- Identifying limitations of smoothing methods as forecasting
tools
- Interpreting forecasts from decomposition models
- Using ARIMA models to forecast seasonal and non-seasonal data
- Incorporating effects of deliberate policy changes or unexpected
events into forecasts
- Experience in developing and evaluating forecasts
Six Sigma Process Design (SSPD)
Facilitated by Joe Ficalora
In this elective, MBB participants will explore the problems of
creating/designing a process. This is particularly important in
the business world or service businesses where sometimes no process
exists or a new one needs to be created, completely scrapping the
old process.
Exploration of capturing the voices of customers and stakeholders
is covered as a key starting point. Process Redesign is explored
next, when an existing process already exists but needs to be fundamentally
re-engineered.
Process Functional Analysis is explored to define the fundamentals
of the process and remove non-value-added steps right. A roadmap
for process design/redesign is developed and key aspects covered
in this one-week program, which is open to MBBs and transactional
BBs.
Who Should Attend:
- Managers and analysts who are engaged in process design and
redesign
- Mentors of Black Belts and Green Belts
Key Topics:
Six Sigma Overview, Understanding Customer Value (Voice of the Customer):
Gathering customer Needs, Survey design, execution and analysis,
KJ analysis, Quality Function Deployment, Process key characteristics,
Definition of process metrics, Process mapping techniques, Process
redesign, Concept generation, Process functional analysis, Pugh
concept evaluation, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Basic process
statistics, Basic process controls, Process capability, Effective
project planning , Initial control plan, and Resistance to change
Benefits:
- Overview of Six Sigma
- Appreciation of how process design fits into the Process Improvement
MethodologyTM
- Understanding of ways to identify and analyze customer needs
and incorporate them into new processes
- Familiarity with methods for using data in process design
- Awareness of methods for controlling a new process
.
